I discovered a mass and was diagnosed with breast cancer at 39 in April 2018. Like many women faced with this devastating and life changing event, I needed to process the sea of emotions after completing chemo, surgery and a year of treatment. I was blessed to be referred to Cancer Support Community (CSC).
CSC is a place of healing and hope for me – providing various educational, emotional and physical programs and workshops focusing on quality of life and patient care during and post cancer treatment. Cancer and the treatments from cancer changes every aspect of life. Being placed in a free 12-week couples counseling program and an ongoing weekly support group has helped me transition back into a new “normal” life.
Since joining the CSC in March of 2019, I’ve attended many workshops, monthly networking groups, and continue to attend my weekly support group. The weekly support group has been the best therapy for me, by listening to other’s experiences and by processing my own, it has helped me come out of drowning in waves of different emotions from depression, grief, anxiety, anger, gratitude, and emptiness to have the ability to find joy in each day as well as living in the moment. Because of this life saving gift I only want to give back…
Please help me support Cancer Support Community by joining my team or by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Cancer Support Community's great cause! Additionally, you can ask me how you can get involved too.
Together, we can make a difference!
